In an emotional message from his hospital bed, Syed Sohail Uddin expressed heartfelt gratitude to the thousands of people across the U.S. and around the world who have supported him following a brutal stabbing attack.
Sohail was seriously injured after being stabbed 15 times while working at Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City, Utah. Prosecutors allege the attack was motivated by religious bias, and the suspect is now facing attempted murder and hate crime charges.
Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and facing a recovery expected to take up to six months, Sohail said the overwhelming support, prayers, and encouragement from strangers have given him strength to keep fighting.
His family says he still has a long road ahead, including additional medical treatment and rehabilitation, but they remain hopeful as he continues to recover.
The case has sparked conversations nationwide about public safety and hate-motivated violence, while community members continue rallying around Sohail and his family.
